Please don't fall off your seat in shock. I know it's been a long, long time since this blog featured anything resembling an OOTD, and I doubt they're going to become regular features, but when Joe Browns got in touch and asked if I'd like a preview of their Autumn/Winter collection, I simply couldn't say no. I've loved the Joe Browns brand for around ten years now, have bought numerous items from them over the years, and really love their whole ethos. So, here are some not-very-good snaps of me in the beautiful Flocked Skater Dress in Grey/Black* - yes, I am aware I've beheaded myself in the best photo, and no, I didn't mean to. I really need a tripod!

A bargain at just £39.99, this is a lovely, heavy fabric which feels like great quality and will keep you warm as the weather turns cooler. It's the perfect length for me, falling to just above the knee (although I do have very short legs, so it may be a little shorter on someone with normally-proportioned limbs!) and is just so comfortable and flattering to wear.
I asked for a size ten without knowing what I was being sent, and I have to admit to being a little worried when I saw how unstretchy the fabric is, as similar styles have ended up looking a little weird and distorted across the chest in the past. I needn't have worried, it fits like it was made for me; this is unusual as anything that fits right on my boobs is generally huge around the waist, but there we have it. The hidden zip makes the dress easy to put on, and the skirt is lovely and twirly - a proper princess dress, as my stepdaughter would put it. The flocked design is just gorgeous, and the washing instructions are easy and clear, which is another bonus! I teamed it with some ballet pumps from River Island which I bought last year, and black tights, seen below - not very exciting but I think the dress is pretty enough that it's best worn simply! I also loved the pretty tag - it's the little things!

This dress is also available in a plum colour, which looks equally stunning. Whichever colour you prefer, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Flocked Skater Dress, and Joe Browns in general - I've never had anything less than excellent customer service from them, they offer free returns, and have a wonderful range of men's and women's clothing, as well as gifts.
Have you ever purchased anything from Joe Browns? How would you style this dress? Do you prefer the Grey & Black style I have, or the Plum colour?

[Please note this item was sent to me free of charge. This does not affect my opinion in any way; it really is just a gorgeous dress!]
