A few weeks ago, I was very kindly sent a pre-launch tube of Balance Me's latest lip-care offering; their Lip Quench Balm* claims to hydrate and protect against chapped lips, whilst soothing and repairing sore, dry skin. I'm sure I'm not the only one who can really suffer with dry, chapped and sore lips during the cold winter months, so I was keen to see how well this would live up to its promises!
The packaging isn't anything ground-breaking; a plastic tube with a screw-cap and a slanted applicator, it serves its purpose well enough, and I do like the green and white colour scheme it's got going on. I also really like Balance Me's swirly patterns - I think they're really pretty! The balm itself appears yellowish in the tube, but this doesn't translate onto the lips at all; it's just a clear balm which gives a subtle shine to the lips, leaving them feeling smooth and not in the least bit sticky. In terms of hydration this works pretty well for me, although I do apply lip balm frequently out of habit. It's packed with hydrating ingredients, however, so it ought to work well. These include Lanolin, Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Shea Butter, Beeswax, and Mango Seed Butter - just a few amongst a lengthy list!
In all, I've really enjoyed using this lip balm over the past month or so; it works well to hydrate the lips, gives a pretty, glossy finish without feeling sticky, and has a lovely minty-fresh scent which is a nice bonus! Balance Me Lip Quench Balm is priced at £8 for 10ml of product, available direct from Balance Me here. I do think it's a reasonable price for a decent, British-made product with a list of lovely skin-friendly ingredients, and no Petroleum in sight! What's your favourite lip balm?
