I placed an order with Holland & Barrett's last month to stock up on haircare and bodywash; they had a buy one, get one half price offer running at the time so I ended up ordering an extra product to take advantage of that, and the one I went for was this Dr Organic Hemp Oil Intensive Hand & Nail Treatment. I figured that I love The Body Shop's Hemp Hand Protector and this Dr Organic version was around the same price for a massive 100ml tube, so it had to be worth a try! I really struggle with eczema on my hands so I'm always trying new products to try and keep it under control.
"Organic Hemp Oil is rich in essential fatty acids (EFAs) and Omega 3, 6 and 9, essential for healthy looking skin, and is described as 'nature's most perfectly balanced oil'. The unique properties of this amazing oil are combined with Cocoa Butter, Camphor Bark Oil and our proprietary blend of bioactive, natural and organic extracts including Horsetail, Hops and Hibiscus to create a nourishing hand cream that helps to soothe and soften the skin and is proven to provide up to 24 hours moisturising effect."
Sounds good, right?! I'm always dubious of claims offering 24-hour moisturisation, partly because I wash my hands a lot at work - and I was quite right, this doesn't offer me anything close to 24 hours of hydration. That aside, it's a really nice hand cream; it has a thick, almost balmy texture which is easy to spread over the skin. It takes a minute or so to fully sink in, so for those who hate the feeling of hand cream this might not be for you. There's a slight scent to it which isn't unpleasant or over-powering; I think it comes from the Camphor Bark Oil.
In terms of moisturising my skin, I find this provides immediate relief for any dry areas or patches of eczema, soothing any itching. I tend to use this at bedtime and find that my hands are left feeling softer and smoother by morning. I would like to see this available in a smaller tube which would be handier (pun intended, sorry!) for using on the go - this size of tube is fine for my bedside table or keeping in a desk drawer, but a bit on the large size for keeping in a handbag or my pocket at work. Overall, though, it's a lovely product and definitely one I'm glad to have tried - I'm pretty sure I'll be buying it again.
Dr Organic Hemp Oil Intensive Hand & Nail Treatment is priced at £5.99 for 100ml, available from Holland & Barrett; I think it's a great price for the quality of the product and a tube this size will last for so long!! Have you tried any Dr Organic products? What's your favourite hand cream?
