You may remember I posted about Makeup Revolution's collaboration with British Beauty Blogger Jane Cunningham towards the end of March; the gorgeous Fortune Favours The Brave palette fell into my online basket as soon as I laid eyes on it, and has been my most-used palette by a long shot ever since I received it. I shared my first impressions at the time but I'm back today with a more in-depth review and a couple of looks I've been loving wearing with this palette.
The first thing I've been struck by is how good the quality of these shadows is; honestly, there doesn't seem to be a weak shade in there, they're all fantastic! I've been so impressed with how pigmented all the shades are, as well as the texture of the shadows, which is buttery-soft and so easy to blend. I can't fault Makeup Revolution on this one! I'm also really happy with how well the shadows last on the skin; I do always wear them over a base of cream eyeshadow, but have found them to wear really well without fading or creasing - they're still looking pretty much flawless after ten hours' wear including a shift at work.
So I think you can tell I've been pretty happy with the Fortune Favours The Brave palette so far! I thought I'd also share a couple of go-to looks I've been wearing from the palette; all three are using GOSH Forever Eyeshadow Stick in 02 'Beige' as a base, Maybelline Full 'N Soft Mascara in 'Very Black' and Lacura Brow Pencil in 'Brunette'.
There's a lovely selection of wearable yet on-trend green/khaki shades within the palette, which I've loved experimenting with; I really like green shadows with my eyes as they bring out the hazel in them. Here, I've used 'Green Machine' all over the lid, 'Yes Please' in the inner corner and 'Smoothie' blended into the outer corners and through the crease; I love this, it's what I hoped Charlotte Tilbury's 'The Rebel' Luxury Palette would be. Shame on you, CT - this palette is a quarter of the price and has 26 more shades to choose from!
For my second look I went for something quite pink and girly but still striking, which is kind of my "thing" - I'm all about the dramatic eyes! This look used 'Favour' all over the lid, with 'Drama Queen' blended into the crease and outer corner to deepen things up a little. I added a touch of 'Pink Diamond' in the inner corners as a highlight, and 'Lonely Planet' along my upper lashline just to define a little.
My third look is probably the most wearable of the three, a classic daytime look using 'Glimmer' all over the lid, with 'Fortune' in the outer third and 'Hope' through the crease to add definition. I also added a dab of 'Ice Cloud' to the centre of the lids for a bit of extra dimension; this is a gorgeous highlight shade!
So as you can see, this really is such a versatile palette - there are literally dozens of looks you could create, from the wearable nudes and golds through to the far more dramatic shades. Have you picked up Fortune Favours The Brave yet? Which look do you like the best? If you haven't got your hands on it yet, you can order the palette from Makeup Revolution here for the bargain price of £9.99 - it really is worth every penny!!
