Public Service Announcement: Next Sunday, June 21st, is Father's Day! You can thank me later for that little reminder, but in the meantime I've got some gift ideas to share in collaboration with Debenhams. I've always been a bit of a daddy's girl and, whilst my family isn't great at talking about feelings and all that carry-on, it's nice to be able to show my Dad that I love him once a year! Some of my best childhood memories are from times spent with my Dad - he was a postman when I was little, and he'd bring me Dolly Mixtures from the Post Office at the weekend; when I was a bit older, we'd take a frying pan and some bacon and bread & butter into the field to have a "camp fire", where he'd let me build bricks up before we lit a fire and fried our bacon for bacon butties, ruining my mum's frying pan in the process; aged ten, I went on a three-day school trip and came home to discover my Dad had bought an iguana in my absence... Life was far from dull! Soppiness, aside, however, let's get back to Father's Day...!

My Dad is a man of approximately six outfits, which work in a kind of hierarchy from the old, battered and holey "playing out clothes", through reasonably presentable outfits for things like going to work, doctor's appointments and shopping, and then "nice" clothes which are for going "out-out". Once an item of clothing has had its day in one category, it simply moves down the hierarchy, until it becomes more hole than clothing and is finally parted with in a most traumatic manner - my Dad is a hoarder of the greatest extreme. All that said, you can see why getting him clothes is a great investment! This Ben Sherman Polo Shirt* (£45 £36) has a cool print which is a little bit different than anything else my Dad has, and is made of a truly lovely, soft material; a little bit of luxury! Smellies (that is, anything nicer than whichever Lynx is on offer!) are pretty much reserved exclusively for "going out-out" outfits - something like Carven's Pour Homme Eau de Toilette* (£70 for 100ml) will be saved for absolute best and the 50ml bottle I was very kindly sent would probably, at a guess, last him about ten years...
